The Historic Drop In Democrat Turnout Needs To Be Explained
Inquiring minds want to know…Where did over 9M Democrat voters go?
2024 Turnout = 147M total votes. Trump 75M, Harris 72M.
2020 Turnout = 155M total votes. Trump 74M, Biden 81M.
2016 Turnout = 129M total votes. Trump 63M, Clinton 66M.
2012 Turnout = 127M total votes. Obama 66M, Romney 61M
No significant 3rd party candidate a la Ross Perot in any of these contests. Just the R and the D.
The sudden disappearance of almost 10M Democrat votes from 2020 is very hard to explain. Where did they go?
They didn’t go to Trump. He was was only up about 1M votes since 2020.
They didn’t go to a 3rd party candidate of any consequence, sorry RFK
And Democrat’s 12% drop in votes since the immediately prior election has NEVER happened to either major party in 50 years - the generally accepted current era of near total partisan voter rigidity - except ONCE in 1992 where strong 3rd party candidate Ross Perot took George HW Bush down 16 points from what he scored in 1988.
Did those 9 million-plus 2020 Democrats just stay home?
It’s possible. It’s possible that they were angry at Biden’s four years but unable to bring themselves to vote Trump. It’s possible they were angry at the mid-summer switch out of Biden for Harris by party bosses without the rank and file having any say in the matter. It’s possible they were convinced that there was no way they could win after Trump got shot and got back up with his fist in the air, then had throngs of fans show up for him in deep-blue strongholds, served fries and drove a garbage truck, and generally been the kind of crazy-like-a-fox political cruise missile that he has always been but in 2024, even more so. It’s possible.
If it’s any of those things above, everyone in the Donkey Party who engineered this never-seen-before meltdown at the polls needs to resign today if they have a scrap of duty to their voters. They led their people into the abyss.
However, if the cause for this electoral Jonestown is something other than those scenarios, or something equally simple and rational, we need to get to the bottom of it.
Accusations of ‘voter suppression’ are fine as an explanation but they deserve robust objective substantiation.
Accusations that Biden’s 10 million more Democrat voters never existed in the first place and and all those votes in 2020 were fraudulent is fine as an explanation, but that too deserves no less rigorous substantiation.
The over 9 million missing Democrats, no matter your politics, are very hard to understand.
The American people deserve a proper answer. Someone needs to dig it out.
